Religion Re-Cap

Today in Human Geography class we went over the five major religions that will be on the test on Monday.

Christianity- 2.2 billion people following, they are called Christians, there located in Europe, North and South America and South Africa, the founder is Jesus Christ, the holy book is called The Holy Bible especially the New Testament. Jesus is both human and divine, he is the son of God.

Islam- 1.5 billion people following, they are called Muslims, they are located in North Africa, Middle East and Indonesia, the founder is Muhammad, the holy book is the Qur'an. They believe in the five pillars, they see their purpose in life as serving and submitting to Allah.

Hinduism- 1.1 billion people following, they are called Hindus, there are located in India, Nepal, the holy book is called the Vedas, there is no founder and it is probably the oldest organized religion.

Buddhism- 500 million to 1.5 billion people following, they are called Buddhists, they are located in Asia, China, Nepal, Japan, there are about 1 million Buddhist living in the United States, they believe in the Four Noble Truths and the eightfold paths.

Judaism- 14 to 18 million people following, they are called Jews and they are located in Israel and The United States and there founder is Abraham, there holy book is called the Torah which is the first five books of the old testament, they believe in the ten commandments and the thirteen principles of faith.
