Human Geo HW 8/30/13

The top 5 ways for me to become a successful student at John Carroll. The first reason is to study harder by taking good notes or flash cards and reviewing them before a big test or a quiz. The second reason is to not get lazy on yourself and do all your blogs and reflections in all of your classes. The third reason is if you are absent then make sure you get all of your make-up work because if you don't then you'll probably get a ''0''. The fourth reason is too try not get behind on your homework because it will impact your grade really quickly and that can be the difference between passing or failing the class. The last reason is when your taking notes is that you need to take really good notes and make sense to that day because when you review them you wont understand them if they make no sense.

Agora - A gathering place where you talk or a assembly

Arete - Very excellent or excellence or virtue

Polis - A major city

The year 508 BC - The city of Athens was established in 508 BC

Socrates - A Greek Athenian philosopher. One of the founders of the Western Philosophy. He even created his own method '' The Socratic Method''.

The Death of Socrates - He died because he was criticizing critias. The Tyrant of Athens was really pissed off and told him that he can either drink a cup of poison or he can be faced exile.

The Socratic Method - Its a method were you will ask yourself a question and you will answer so that way it can create a stimulate critical thinking. 

  What the Ancient Greeks meant when they will call you an idiot - They called you that because you were a private person most of the time and that's what idiot meant in Ancient times.

Note Taking Day 1

Today was the first day of note taking in Mr. Schick's for once I will say it was really fun learning about ''A message to Garcia''. It is about a boy named Rowan and how he had to deliver a message to General Garcia which that note was from the President of the United States. But it was really hard for Rowan to deliver that note because at the moment the Unite States was in a war with the great Spain. Anyway, now the quote ''A message to Garcia'' means not to complain when your asked to do something just do it with no wining or complaining. Lastly, to end the day of school I go to English 9 class with Ms. Amato which is always fun and entertaining. And thank the lord there is no soccer practice today.  

2nd Day of School

Today in class was actually fun we went over the rules or you can call it the syllabus. Once I got my computer straight I would go help others send there URL to Mr. Schick so we can all the past the assignment. Everything started making more sense to me I started to get used to my computer more and I really under how to use blogger now. Then to end the day of a great school day I had soccer practice and we did a lot of running today like maybe two miles and then we do ball drills. Lastly, last night my mom droved me to Staples and I got myself a composition notebook to take notes in Human Geo class.

First Day of School

My name is Arri Stakias. My first day of school is going really well. I know that I’m going to like Intro to Bible because I love learning new things about my culture and religion and that is also why I’m going to like human geography as well. I’m really liking how we get free mods and if we got two in one day it builds up responsibility by managing your time to do homework and or eat food. I haven’t had math yet so I can’t say anything about it, but I did meet my math teacher Ms. Kraft and she is one of the nicest ladies I’ve ever met. I’m really liking English and Spanish. Spanish is going to be hard but I’m always up for a good challenge. Then there is Enhance with Ms. Drummey. That’s a good class because she always helps us with a problem or school stuff. Next, there’s physical education which is really fun because we play a bunch of games and I always love running around and having fun at the same time. Lastly, to end the day, I have soccer practice. I’m the goalie on the JV team. Everyone kicks soccer balls at me and I make incredible saves but I also let balls in. That’s how my first day of school was and I know it’s going to be great school year.
